Despite the wealth of advice that exists on gift shopping for women, many men still don’t understand how to select a gift that makes a woman happy. It’s a matter of picking an item that blends style and substance. Women don’t just want clothes or jewelry with visual appeal – they want it to be meaningful as well. That’s why I always advise my male friends to buy their partners a locket necklace.
Lockets are definitely not short on style. They’ve been around since the Victorian era, so you know they’re a safe choice that has withstood the test of time. Lockets have a certain old-world charm that is difficult to find in other types of jewelry. A well made heart-shaped locket, for example, evokes romantic imagery of castles, aristocrats and balls. It’s a throwback to an era where old values like chivalry were still cherished. That’s why the classic locket design never goes out of style.
As mentioned before, if you want to really knock your woman’s socks off, you need a gift that not only boasts style and elegance, but has a good dose of sentimentality as well. Gifts don’t get much more sentimental than the locket necklace. If you insert a photo of your partner and you on your first date or your favorite picture from your wedding, it’s sure to bring tears to your partner’s eyes. She’ll get to keep that cherished memory quite literally “close to her heart” and she’ll know that the memory is equally valuable to you as well. For maximum effect, get yourself a matching locket with the same photo inside.
There you have it – a gift that represents the perfect blend of style and substance. Head to Heartsmith Locket the next time you’re seeking an anniversary or birthday gift for your partner.
Design Options for Modular Homes
| Filed under Business & Finance Real Estate
Many people think that there is a lack of design options for prefabricated homes. This is actually a misconception, as there are about as many designs available for such homes as traditional stick-built structures. Modular homes in NC come in many shapes and sizes and they have proven to be just as reliable as regular houses when it comes to durability. If you are in the market for a new modular home but you are unsure about how to design it, the following design ideas might help you:
The Contemporary Box House
The great thing about modern houses is their simplicity. Characterized by minimalistic but functional designs, contemporary houses are not only aesthetically pleasing to look at but also utilitarian. If you want a modern design for your home, you might want to consider a simple box house. If you want a bit of an edge when it comes to design, you can have these box structures stacked atop each other in a unique, unconventional pattern. You can choose from several exterior options if you want to experiment a bit or request for a wooden exterior if you want your new home to be environmentally friendly.
Traditional Rectangular Houses

If you are not a fan of the simplicity of modern homes, you can always opt for a more traditional design. Choose a plain rectangular base along with a more traditional roofing style. You can also experiment with layouts, add a front porch, and some traditional pillars to boot. You can choose a country-style design if you want your modular home to look cozier.
Industrial Designs

Industrial looking homes are also highly popular these days. Homes that are designed like barns, warehouses, and lofts are a big hit among many first-time homebuyers. If you want something a little raw when it comes to design, you can choose an industrial looking design with high ceilings. You can choose a loft-type layout for your home’s interior if you want something more contemporary.

How to Choose Sweet 16 Locations in New Jersey
| Filed under Entertaining Home, Garden, & Family
A Sweet 16 in NJ can be a costly expense. One of the most difficult tasks these days is to find a venue that is appropriate and cost effective for the family throwing the party. There are a lot of great ways to make sure you find the perfect place for your party.
You will want to choose a venue that is close enough that all of the invited guests can make the trip in a reasonable amount of time. Asking people to travel far distances often means that many people won’t attend the party. If you are inviting anyone to the party that may have a physical disability you will want to make sure that there is handicap access for them to enter the building. It would be very embarrassing for the guest to arrive and not have them able to enter the premises.
You want a place that has a diverse menu and a catering staff that is able to work around any potential food allergies. You can go there prior to booking the event and asking for a tasting menu. This gives you the opportunity to make sure that the food is the quality that you wish to have served. You should make it a simple style of food since the party is Sweet 16. There will be a lot of teens there and they probably don’t want to sit down for a big formal meal.
Ask the manager of the venue if there is a list of prior clients who would be willing to talk about their experience with their company. Ask if everything was delivered and ready on time, if there were any staffing issues, or if there were any problems with the food or staff. Shop prices. It is always a good idea to check around similar venues to see what their cost is for the same party. You may be able to negotiate a lower price if you can show the manager that you were offered the same amenities for a lower price.
The most important choice you can make is the location. This is where you are going to create memories for you, your child, and her friends and family. Put some effort into making sure it’s just the right place.
Why I Chose Cosmetology as a Career
| Filed under Education Skills Training
Yes, I am one of those people who graduated from a beauty school. Many people, including my parents, think this type of education is anything but a “real” education. This is far from the truth. Choosing your career path in life is a monumental decision that should not be taken lightly. I have always enjoyed working with people and find skin care and makeup application fascinating. Therefore, it only seemed natural for me to pursue a career in that field.
At first, I thought maybe I would like to become a dermatologist. After researching that career, I decided it wasn’t for me. I am not one to want to sit in an office all day long. I enjoy a change of pace and really enjoy making my own hours. That is one of the main reasons I chose a path in cosmetology. I could still utilize and expand upon my interest with skin care while at the same time incorporate my interest in makeup application.
After researching multiple schools, I finally decided on a beauty school that offered exactly what I needed. They were certified and offered a specialized license in cosmetology. Because I wanted to specialize in both skin care and professional makeup application, it did take me a little longer than most. However the degree I finally was able to achieve was worth it!
After training for a few years with some experts in the field, I was ready to branch out on my own. I worked for a few years at a spa on the beach in Key West. That was not a boring office job in the least! Now I am happily employed on a major cruise line working in their on ship spa. I can work in a beautiful space with a view of the ocean, and because of the laid back lifestyle on a cruise ship I can pretty much set my own hours. Traveling to exotic locations is just an extra perk of my career choice!
Boom, Bubble or Bust
| Filed under Business & Finance Real Estate
Real Estate in Tel Aviv has joined the ranks of Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore with five year price gains between 50 and 110-percent; earning them a place on the short list of top performers. Efforts are being made to limit or negate the bubble-effect in these areas and their respective governments are working diligently to restrain the market, lowering prices across the board. For the average buyer, however, this is a frustratingly slow process.
Properties in Israel, parts of China and Japan have been priced so far out of the reach of local residents that numerous restrictions have been placed on purchasing. Some areas now set limits on the buying of multiple properties and in Hong Kong increased down payments are being required of individuals with non-local income streams. Singapore is assessing a higher property tax on real estate flipped within one to two years time and is also levying additional expenses (up to 10-percent of value) against foreign buyers. Most of these restrictions have been in response to public outrage over the exorbitant costs of ownership. China, the number one global market, has seen a small measure of improvement in the last two years and by continuing to impose limitations throughout 2012, the market is projected to drop10 to 20-percent over the course of the year.
There are no such concerns in the United States where the housing market as a whole has been called “modest”. Some areas, however, fail to reach even the most modest standards – in the third quarter of 2011 reports indicate that one third of well over one hundred markets, were undervalued to the tune of 13 to 25-percent. In May of 2012, Market Watch listed the 5 worst U.S. housing markets as Sacramento, California; Jacksonville, Mississippi; Tucson, Arizona; Atlanta, Georgia; and Wilmington, Delaware. Declines were generally attributed to widespread unemployment and in some cases, simply a predictable (if unfortunate) result of the 2002-2007 boom and subsequent bust.
Boom, bubble or bust; someone – individual or entity is always going to benefit. These days it depends entirely on just where in the world you happen to be.
